Plain language
Everyday words wherever possible, with any necessary terms explained the first time they appear.
Each report aims to set out what happened, what is known so far, and what is still uncertain, in plain language for readers coming to a story for the first time.
Our mission is to make reporting easier to read and easier to weigh, so you can understand a story without having followed it from the start.
Many stories arrive in small pieces, and it can be hard to tell what is new, what is settled, and what is still being worked out. We aim to bring those pieces together in one place.
That means writing in plain language, explaining terms as they come up, and being clear about where things are still uncertain.
“A single update should make sense on its own, even if it’s the first one you’ve read.”
Everyday words wherever possible, with any necessary terms explained the first time they appear.
We try to include the background a reader needs to follow each update from start to finish.
When something isn’t settled yet, we aim to say so rather than smooth it over.
If you spot something that looks wrong, you can let us know by email or through the form on this page.
Some reports carry a short note showing how established their key finding is. It’s meant as a reading guide, not a final verdict.
Early findings
Based on a small amount of early evidence. Worth knowing about, and likely to change as more becomes known.
Growing support
Several independent sources point in the same direction, though open questions remain.
Broad agreement
Supported consistently over time by many independent sources.

We publish reports and explainers written in plain language. Each piece aims to set out what happened, what is known so far, and what remains uncertain.
No. Content here is for reading and reference only. It isn’t a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who can consider your individual situation.
Some reports include a short note showing how established a finding is: early findings, growing support, or broad agreement. These notes are a reading guide and may change as new information becomes available. You can see the full scale in the About section.
New reports are added from time to time. How often depends on what’s happening and how long each piece takes to prepare and review.
